The actor and now professional racing driver recently appeared on the Lightweights Podcast with Joe Vulpis, where he opened up about reuniting with Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek for the sitcom's revival, titled Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair, which is set to follow a now-adult Malcolm (Muniz) and his family. "I'm not exaggerating when I say filming this reboot, like I loved it so much, way more than I ever thought I could have," he said. "We ended in May, and I haven't talked to anybody since, you know what I mean? I've been gone. I've only been home, I think, for 12 days since the beginning of the year. I'm just always crazy, and I think next week, I'm going to have time. I'm going to reach out [to the rest of the cast]." But it's only four episodes. ... It's hard to fit in 20 years of stuff into four 30-minute episodes, right? But I think people are going to be very happy with what they came up with." Malcolm in the Middle, which ran from 2000-06, follows Malcolm, a gifted adolescent in a dysfunctional family, as he navigates his unique intelligence in a world that often misunderstands him. Cranston played Malcolm's father, Hal, and Kaczmarek played his mother, Lois. In the reboot, Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield also reprise their roles as Malcolm's older brothers, Francis and Reese. Erik Per Sullivan, who played younger brother Dewey, did not return for the reboot, with Ellsworth-Clark taking over the role. Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair is expected to premiere on Disney+ in December.
