Big Brother 27's Katherine Woodman has addressed the fan backlash surrounding her showmance with fellow contestant Rylie Jeffries. "It wasn't good necessarily hearing that," Katherine, 23, exclusively told Us Weekly on Friday, August 29, of learning the fans' perspective on the nature of her and Rylie's relationship after her eviction. "I wasn't in any situations in that house that made me upset with him or uncomfortable or unhappy in any way." Katherine and Rylie, 27, formed a connection in the Big Brother house after the season began last month. While the show depicted it as a typical showmance, fans watching the couple via the live feeds had a different viewing experience. Many believed Rylie was being controlling and verbally abusive toward Katherine. Katherine didn't feel that way, but if she had, she would have spoken her mind. "I'm a very vocal person with things that make me happy and unhappy," she explained. "And if anything was going awry, I would have said something or not participated." 'Big Brother' Star Rylie's Mom Defends His Relationship With Katherine Now that they've both been evicted from the Big Brother house, Katherine hopes Rylie is "doing OK" and plans to reach out to him. "I'm excited to talk to him, and I think I will be offering reassurance that he didn't do anything wrong, at least in my eyes," she told Us. One week before Katherine's eviction, Rylie was voted out of the game, leaving the fine dining server by herself with limited allies. Katherine Woodman, Rylie Jeffries CBS Broadcasting "It was really, really hard," Katherine said of continuing the game without Rylie. "It made me really, really sad. I had just really grown accustomed to, like, his company and his presence, and he just helped me be in a good mood, even when things in the house were crazy or I was feeling insane. Or mad, because [I have] a bit of a temper, and he honestly chilled me out. I said in the house that he was probably what made me [a] nicer person, and him being gone, I was like, 'No, I just feel mean and filled with rage,' and that is kind of what happened." After initially pulling out of interviews in the wake of his elimination, Rylie broke his silence on his controversial behavior toward Katherine while speaking with Entertainment Weekly on Thursday, August 28. "I understand how things may have come across, but I speak with passion," he told the outlet. "I love with my whole heart, and maybe that intensity was misunderstood. I would never intentionally disrespect anyone, especially Katherine." Big Brother's Morgan and Rachel Face Off in Storage Room Show Down Rylie added that there were "some moments" throughout the season that didn't reflect who he is as a person. "My intentions have always come from a place of care and loyalty, not control," he continued. "It's heartbreaking to be misunderstood. People online don't know me, but my friends, family, fellow Houseguests and Katherine do, and that's what's important. I spent every day in that house with people who truly know me, who see the real me: someone who's loving, funny and full of heart. It hurts to be painted as aggressive when all I've ever done is lead with passion and care." Big Brother airs on CBS on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 8 p.m. ET. Fans can watch live feeds from the house anytime on Paramount+.
