The Summer I Turned Pretty is vying into uncharted territory. Amazon Prime Video released a trailer for the final three episodes of the teen drama series on Friday, August 29, showing Belly (Lola Tung) on a solo adventure in Paris after calling off her wedding to Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and admitting she stills loves his brother, Conrad (Christopher Briney). "I had these pillars in my life. Cousins, my family, Taylor, Jere," Belly says at the start of the trailer as she boards a plane and takes off her engagement ring. "They made me feel like I was safe, like I was on solid ground. And now they're gone and it's just me." The teaser then flashes to Belly landing in Paris, showing her looking lost as she waits for the train, rides the bus and calls her mom, Laurel (Jackie Chung). 'Summer I Turned Pretty' Stops Following the Books Before the Series Finale "Oh thank God, Belly, I've been crazy worried ever since you left. Tell me where you are and I'll come get you," Laurel tells her over the phone, to which Belly responds, "I'm in Paris." Set to Ellie Goulding's "Anything Can Happen," the trailer then follows Belly as she explores the City of Love, seemingly getting work at a restaurant, having drinks with new friends and even dancing with best friend Taylor (Rain Spencer) as her melancholy starts to lift. "I don't even know who I am anymore. I need to find the person that I can be," she proclaims before it flashes to her looking through mail and finding a letter from Conrad. "Dear Belly," Conrad's voice echoes in the background. "Anything could happen. The last three episodes of The Summer I Turn Pretty start September 3," Prime Video wrote via Instagram on Friday alongside the trailer. Rain Spencer, Lola Tung, Gavin Casalegno, Chris Briney Erika Doss (C) AMAZON CONTENT SERVICES LLC Fans of Jenny Han's novels will know that the third and final book, We'll Always Have Summer, finishes with Belly flying overseas to Europe to spend a semester abroad after her relationship with Jeremiah falls apart. After some time there, she begins receiving letters from Conrad who previously confessed his love to her the night before her wedding to Jeremiah. While she refuses to answer him at first, she eventually responds. The pair start to correspond before reconnecting and, ultimately, finding their way back together before getting married. Friday's teaser seems to hint that the season 3 of the series, which premiered earlier this summer, will be following the same format - albeit with a heavier focus on Belly's solo adventures across the pond. Belly has been entangled in a love triangle with both brothers Jeremiah and Conrad since TSITP premiered in 2021. While season 1 focused heavily on her love for Conrad, the death of Conrad and Jeremiah's mother, Susannah (Rachel Blanchard), threw things off course and Belly started dating Jeremiah in season 2. A four-year time jump in season 3 revealed the twosome were still together and attending Finch college together, but things began to fall apart after Belly secretly saw Conrad again over Christmas - and Jeremiah slept with someone else during spring break. Episode 8 of season 3, which aired on Wednesday, August 27, saw Belly admitting to Jeremiah that a part of her still loves Conrad, and the pair end their romance. Belly then runs to the airport to catch a last-minute flight to Paris, but sees Conrad waiting in the terminal before she boards her plane as Taylor Swift's "Cardigan" plays in the background. During an interview with CBS Mornings earlier this month, Han, who is also showrunner of the series, confirmed there will be a "clear-cut" ending to the show and asked fans to be considerate of the characters and their mistakes. "They're all young and they're all flawed human individuals who are figuring out life. They're at different points in the journey," Han, who is also showrunner of the series, explained. "Hopefully, people can watch that and feel some sense of, like, connection to seeing people make mistakes but then be forgiven and hopefully find grace." Summer I Turned Pretty's Love Triangle Ending Has 'Surprises' for Book Fans In March, the author teased that there "are going to be surprises" in the final season that book fans won't be prepared for. "There are the things that [book fans] know and then there are things they think they know, and then there's going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them," she told Entertainment Weekly at the time. The Summer I Turned Pretty releases new episodes on Prime Video every Wednesday at 3 a.m. ET.
