The French company have acquired all media rights worldwide - excluding North America - ahead of its world premiere in the Venice Classics section on Thursday. The Hollywood Reporter's review said there's only one star of Megadoc, "the fascinating fly-on-the-wall account of that film's extremely ambitious and chaotic shoot, and that's Coppola himself." Interestingly, there are many interpretations of what really happened and it's all in the documentary although the documentary doesn't always say which is what... it is for the viewer to behold and interpret." Figgis added: "I shamelessly offered myself up as a fly on the wall for the production of the shooting of Megalopolis. What a privilege to watch this mighty clash of the Titans as maestro Francis Ford Coppola takes on the universe." Producer James Mockoski said StudioCanal "has always been a home" for the films of Coppola, while executive VP of library Juliette Hochart said "it feels only natural for us to handle the distribution of Mike Figgis' documentary exploring the work of this legendary filmmaker." The polarizing film, starring Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Talia Shire and Jason Schwartzman competed for the Palme d'Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
