The agreement will see Peacock Premium Plus (that's the ad-free tier) become available via Prime Video's channels offering for $16.99 per month or $169.99 per year. Prime Video Channels has become a major aggregator of streaming services, with HBO Max, Paramount+, Starz and Apple TV+ among the services offered, underscoring its effectiveness in driving subscriptions and Amazon's one-stop billing capabilities. While Peacock has been available as part of bundles within the Comcast Xfinity environment, and in a deal with Charter Spectrum, Prime Video Channels is the first tech platform to offer the service as an add-on. Google's YouTube and Roku also have robust channels offerings, while Disney and HBO Max have been opportunistically seeking bundle arrangements. The Amazon deal is likely the first of a number of deals that will expand the availability of Peacock, which is still smaller than many of its subscription streaming competitors with about 41 million subscribers. Peacock has shifted much of its focus to live sports, and will add the NBA this fall. The deal also improves Prime Video's sports proposition, with the platform also recently adding Fox One to its channels offering. With both Peacock and Fox One, Prime Video now provides access to four of the five national NFL packages (ESPN is still the lone holdout for now). The Amazon-Comcast deal also includes extensions on distribution deals covering a number of other areas, ensuring Peacock's continued availability on Fire TV devices, Prime Video availability on Xfinity X1 devices, and allowing users to continue to buy and rent films from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment on Prime Video. "This multi-faceted set of agreements is a testament to our close collaboration with Amazon, delivering significant value across our businesses and expanding exposure of our world-class content," said Mike Cavanagh, president of Comcast Corporation. "Millions of Amazon customers can continue to enjoy NBCUniversal's popular shows, films, and live events on Peacock via Fire TV or through Prime Video Subscriptions, or buying or renting on Prime Video, while also accessing Amazon's premier entertainment on Xfinity X1 - ensuring they can watch what they love, wherever and however they choose." "At Amazon, we are always working to make customers' lives better every day and these new agreements with Comcast NBCU are fantastic for millions of customers, who are looking for the fastest and easiest way to find all their entertainment and sports in one place," added Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios. "Adding Peacock to our growing list of subscriptions - while renewing our long-standing agreements for Fire TV, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, and Xfinity X1 - deepens an incredible working relationship with Comcast/NBCU, and we look forward to a future of mutual distribution that benefits our shared customers."
