During an appearance on the YouTube series The Circuit with Emily Chang, the Duchess of Sussex was asked to clarify what her legal surname is after marrying Prince Harry and receiving a title. Her surname is Mountbatten-Windsor, her title is Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex. As pointed out on several occasions the styling of 'The' means that she is married to a Duke," one critic wrote online. "She will always be known as Meghan Markle and that's it. There's nothing royal about her," a second person wrote. "Her surname is Windsor. Sussex is an aristocratic title. It is not a name," a third critic chimed in. _ On the first season of With Love, Meghan, Meghan Markle corrected guest Mindy Kaling when the former star of The Office referred to her by her maiden name. "It's so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know, I'm Sussex now," the Suits alum said. _ King Charles III's second cousin Lord Ivar Mountbatten claimed that Sussex is not actually Meghan Markle or Prince Harry's last name. "It's interesting because she's completely incorrect. Her family name is not Sussex. Her family name is Mountbatten-Windsor," he claimed in an interview. "So they are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but actually he's Harry Mountbatten-Windsor and she would be Meghan Mountbatten-Windsor."
