So, here's a full breakdown of everything that is going on with Nas at the moment. Neilson Barnard / Getty Images As mentioned, 26-year-old Nas, real name Montero Hill, was arrested on Thursday for the alleged assault of a police officer after authorities responded to calls that a man was wandering the streets of Los Angeles naked. Pool / Getty Images At the time, a spokesperson for the LAPD told People that officers received reports of a man "nude in the street" on Venture Blvd. just before 6 a.m., and that the suspect went on to "batter an officer, so he was booked for battery." The spokesperson also confirmed that the suspect had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

That day, TMZ published concerning footage of Nas walking down Venture Blvd. at 4 a.m. wearing just underpants and boots, and later, completely naked. On Monday, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office confirmed to People that Nas waived his arraignment and pleaded not guilty to four felonies: three counts of battery with injury on a police officer, and one count of resisting an executive officer. Mega / Getty Images A criminal complaint obtained by People says that Nas "did unlawfully use force and violence and inflict an injury" upon three different officers, stating that the star "should have known that said person was a peace officer ... engaged in the performance of duty." The publication has also been told that Nas could face up to five years in prison if convicted, with district attorney Nathan J. Hochman saying in a statement: "Attacking police officers is more than just a crime against those individuals but a direct threat to public safety. Anyone who assaults law enforcement will face serious consequences, no matter who they are or how famous they may be." Rachel Luna / Getty Images A judge set the star's bail at $75,000, and has ordered him to attend four Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week, with police saying that they believe Nas was under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest. Another of Nas's attorneys, Drew Findling, added to reporters outside of the courthouse: "He's never been in trouble for a split second in his existence, we're not going to let one little event change the trajectory of his amazing life. There's no way to have a sense of what happened this immediately, but we're going to look into it and do the right thing." And on Monday, the star's father, Robert Stafford, told various reporters - including NBC News - that his son is "very remorseful for what happened," adding: "He's going to get the help that he needs, just keep him in your prayers." Frederic J. Brown / Getty Images "Give him the same grace and mercy that God gives everyone," Robert went on, before sharing: "He's doing great mentally. We shed tears, we shed laughter, but he's in great spirits. He's gonna be great."Referencing the reports that Nas was hospitalized for a drug overdose and had been under the influence of drugs when he was arrested, Robert insisted that his son "absolutely" did "not" take illegal substances. Nas has been released on bail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 15. For reference, the star first rose to fame in 2019 when his debut single, "Old Town Road," spent a record-breaking 19 consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Nas went on to release other critically-acclaimed hits, including "Call Me By Your Name," and "Industry Baby."
