Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev's wife, Daria Medvedeva, was seemingly mortified by his meltdown during the 2025 US Open. Medvedeva, 31, was seen leaning forward in her seat with her head in her hands as she sat beside her husband's stoic-faced coach, Gilles Cervara, during Medvedev's match against French opponent Benjamin Bonzi in New York City on Sunday, August 24, according to a photo shared by journalist and tennis commentator José Morgado via X. The photo reportedly showed Medvedeva's reaction to one of Medvedev's outbursts at the match. Medvedeva and Medvedev, 29, tied the knot in 2018. They share daughters Alisa, 2, and Vika, 8 months. Tennis Player Danielle Collins Lashes Out at Fans Mid-Match Play was suspended for more than six minutes on Sunday when a photographer walked onto the court at match point in the third set. Bonzi, 29, had been preparing his second serve at the time of the disruption, so the umpire ruled that he could have another first serve. Medvedev, 29, then stormed toward the umpire and shouted, "Are you a man? Are you a man? Why are you shaking? He wants to go home, guys, he doesn't like it here. He gets paid by the match, not by the hour." The crowd booed and chanted "second serve" throughout Medvedev's rant. Meanwhile, the cameraman who interrupted the match was escorted out of Louis Armstrong Stadium. The United States Tennis Association (USTA) organizers confirmed his credentials were revoked. The defeat appeared to prompt another moment of rage from Medvedev, who was seen smashing his racket repeatedly at his seat. Explaining his mid-match tantrum, Medvedev said in a postgame press conference, "I wasn't upset with the photographer. I was upset with the decision. Every time there's a sound from the stands between serves, there's never a second serve. But the umpire gave him a first serve. That's what made me angry." He added that it was "fun to witness" the fans get invested in the situation. "I thought, 'I'm losing the match.' I didn't break him once. ... I got emotional. Honestly, while living it, I was like, 'You know what, it could be fun maybe to finish my career with one match at the US Open,'" Medvedev continued. "I love New York. They did the work. I didn't do anything. The crowd pushed me to come back into the match." Inside Coco Gauff's Roller-Coaster of Emotions at the 2024 Summer Olympics Bonzi told reporters that he saw things differently. "Daniil started it, and he put oil on the fire. He went with the crowd crazy. He went with them. Honestly, I never saw that. The rule is the rule," he said. "The guy went on the court between two serves. It's not my call to say first serve. I felt I didn't do anything bad in the match to receive this treatment, and I didn't want to serve in those conditions." Bonzi also said the "energy" in the crowd was "crazy." "I may have got some new fans, but also some new non-fans," he added. "Thanks to all who were booing. Thanks for the energy." Bonzi noted that he had "never experienced something like that" before. "There was so much noise," he said. The 2025 US Open began Sunday and concludes September 7.
