A new documentary will look back on the impact of Gilmore Girls to honor the show's 25th anniversary this fall. From Ink On Paper Studios, Searching For Stars Hollow: A Gilmore Girls Documentary will offer fans of the beloved series a fresh perspective on "the story you thought you knew of how Gilmore Girls came to life, why it continues to resonate across generations, and how its unique blend of humor, heart, and pop culture shaped a devoted worldwide fan community," per a description on the film's Kickstarter. The project, which does not yet have a release date, will feature "all new, never-before-seen interviews with cast members, behind-the-scenes insights from the crew, insightful commentary with new perspectives and meaning via stories from writers and directors, and heartfelt testimonials from fans whose lives were changed by the show." According to The Hollywood Reporter, original cast members Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), Jared Padalecki (Dean Forester), Keiko Agena (Lane Kim) and Chad Michael Murray (Tristin Dugray) are set to participate in the doc. 'Gilmore Girls' Cast: Where Are They Now? Gilmore Girls aired for seven seasons from 2000 to 2007 starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as mother-daughter duo Lorelai and Rory Gilmore as they navigate life in small-town Stars Hollow with a cast of quirky locals. While Graham and Bledel are currently missing from the lineup, fan favorites Sally Struthers (Babette Dell), Liz Torres (Miss Patty), Emily Kuroda (Mrs. Kim), Rose Abdoo (Gypsy), Kathleen Wilhoite (Liz Danes), Matt Jones (Morgan) and Grant Lee Phillips (the town troubadour) are also involved, as well as director Jamie Babbit, writer and producer Stan Zimmerman and casting directors Jami Rudofsky and Mara Casey. "Gilmore Guys" podcast host Kevin T. Porter is also expected to appear. Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham. Amanda Edwards/WireImage Meghna Balakumar and Kevin Konrad Hanna are directing the documentary, which has already begun to film interviews. "The interviews that we've already conducted with the cast have been a delight," Balakumar told THR in a statement. "We've shot more than 100 hours of footage and have already unearthed stories, commentary, critiques, and more. And we're continuing to shoot more interviews in the coming months to present the most complete, full and truly new story of the show's impact and legacy that is only possible at this historical moment." 'Gilmore Girls' Cast Reunites For Special Holiday Tour of Stars Hollow Adam F. Goldberg is executive producing the project alongside producer Jim Demonakos. "Searching For Stars Hollow will reveal how Gilmore Girls came to life, why it continues to resonate across generations, and how its unique blend of humor, heart and pop culture shaped a devoted worldwide fan community with an in-depth look at its creation and the connections it continues to foster," Demonakos said. "This documentary is for fans of the show but also for anyone with an interest in cultural history and how it affects individual lives." The series also featured Melissa McCarthy as Lorelai's BFF Sookie and Scott Paterson as love interest Luke. Milo Ventimiglia and Matt Czuchry portrayed Rory's boyfriends Jess and Logan, respectively. Nearly a decade after Gilmore Girls ended, the series was revived for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. The four-episode Netflix series left viewers on a major cliffhanger after Rory revealed her pregnancy to her mother. Fans are still trying to decipher who the father of Rory's baby is - and it seems some cast members know more than others. 'Gilmore Girls' Cast's Dating Histories Through the Years "[Creator] Amy [Sherman-Palladino] and [executive producer] Dan [Palladino], they told me who the father of the baby was, and they said, 'Yeah, you can tell whoever you want.' And I never have because one, that's for them to say. Ultimately this is Amy and Dan's show and it's Lauren [Graham's] show and it's Alexis' show. It's not mine. And so, for me, it doesn't feel like the right place to say who it may or may not be," Czuchry, 48, exclusively told Us Weekly in January 2021. "Also, if we do come back, they may change their minds. So it could become somebody else. Those are the reasons why I've never said what they told me on set. ... I've told no one who it might be." Two months later, Ventimiglia, 48, told Us he was still in the dark about the big reveal. "They never told me," he said in March 2021. "You know what, though, I didn't ask. And I feel like I've got, I still have a really, really, really, really close relationship with Amy and Dan. And I feel like if I asked, they would tell me."
