The Netflix series Emily in Paris might be a huge hit, but that doesn't mean everyone loves it - including Lily Collins' father-in-law, Malcolm McDowell. The show is "not my kind of thing," McDowell, 82, told People in an interview published Saturday, August 23, adding, "Lily knows that." "But I'm the biggest fan of my daughter-in-law. I think she's absolutely one of the great actresses," McDowell continued. Collins, 36, stars on the series as Emily Cooper, an American transplant who is struggling with balancing her career at a French marketing firm with her personal life. "I've been waiting my lifetime for you and I can't wait to spend our lifetime together," Collins wrote in her engagement announcement, which featured a photo of herself kissing Charlie, 42, as she showed off her engagement ring to the camera. During an October 2020 appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan Collins said she knew Charlie was the one early in their relationship. "I was very surprised as to when and where it would happen, but it was one of those situations where I knew the second that I met him that I wanted to be his wife one day," she revealed. "So, it was just a matter of when, really." Collins and Charlie tied the knot in Colorado in September 2021 after being engaged for one year. "I've never wanted to be someone's someone more than I do yours, and now I get to be your wife. On September 4th, 2021 we officially became each other's forever. "To be honest, I met my daughter-in-law before [Charlie] did," she revealed, "and I looked at her and thought, 'You would just be so amazing with my son.'"
