KPop Demon Hunters Sing-Along will drop on Netflix on Monday. Over the weekend, the sing-along version of the hit Netflix animated movie hit theaters, with more than 1,300 sold-out screenings across the U.S. and Canada, according to a release. The film topped the U.S. box office, grossing $18 million to $20 million over the Aug. 22-24 weekend. It was a big weekend for the film. In honor of the one-weekend-only theatrical engagement, voice cast members Arden Cho, May Hong, Ken Jeong, vocalists Rei Ami and Kevin Woo, directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and producer Michelle L.M. Wong popped in to surprise fans at screenings across New York and L.A. The Empire State Building was also lit up gold over the weekend in honor of the film, in partnership with Netflix and the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (CAPE) and with support from iHeartMedia. "I'm speechless. This has all been insane. I've been crying a lot," EJAE told the crowd at the screening. The 33-year-old co-wrote the film's breakout song, "Golden," which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the first time a female group has topped the chart since Destiny's Child in 2001.
