Here are the fictional couples that genuinely couldn't generate chemistry if they tried. 1. Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) from Wicked Universal Pictures / Via youtube.com Suggested by u/No-Database-1851"I completely forgot Elphaba had a romantic interest in this movie. She had way better chemistry with Glinda."-u/DDub04"Yes! Which is wild because Johnathan Bailey chemistry with everyone."-u/TheMereWolf"THANK YOU! Watched part 1 in cinemas and like, I love Johnathan Bailey (that man can have chemistry with anyone), but it felt like he was doing most of the heavy lifting, so it made their whole relationship (at least in Part 1 currently) seem very one-sided in terms of interest."-u/Gobo_Cat_7585 2. Belly (Lola Tung) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) from The Summer I Turned Pretty Erika Doss / Amazon/MGM Studios / Courtesy Everett Collection Suggested by u/lalalandbeforetime"I am begging you, Belly, date outside this family."-u/Thrillhol"I cringe every time they are together."-u/Bl1nk1nUR4r34 3. Lee (Lady Gaga) and Arthur (Joaquin Phoenix) from Joker: Folie à Deux Warner Bros. Pictures / Via youtube.com "I watched Joker 2 and thought Gaga and Joaquin lacked any chemistry. It was weird."-u/eat_me_86 4. Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton) from Bridgerton Liam Daniel / Netflix / Courtesy Everett Collection "Compare those two with Kate and Anthony from season two, and it's light-years different."-u/GaramondBold_"Honestly, I think it's how they wrote Colin. I believe it from her side. And I get that he's supposed to realize it slower than Penelope, but I don't buy it at all on the show. And not because of Luke's acting, but the material he was given - it just doesn't read as Colin falling in love with Penelope."-u/HiddenSna"ker"I actually thought they had more built-up sexual chemistry in Season 1 and 2 (at least Penelope did) than Season 3 when they were finally together."-u/haleighr 5. Joe (Penn Badgley) and Brontë (Madeline Brewer) from You Netflix / Via youtube.com Suggested by u/blairsmacaroon"I thought Kate was the worst one. I was proven wrong when Brontë came along.😩"-u/wishingstar91"The writing was so painfully bad. It wasn't just their chemistry. They wrote the most unlikable character, but not on purpose."-u/SnausageFest"I just rewatched this when the new season came out, and I just tuned the fuck out; they were so boring and there was absolutely zero chemistry to buy into."-u/Familiar-Evening7845 6. Alina (Jessie Mei Li) and Mal (Archie Renaux) from Shadow & Bone Netflix / Via youtube.com "The actress had more chemistry with literally everybody else besides him!"-u/jadesage"Their chemistry was somehow worse in the books. I don't know why the writer was so insistent on them being together."-u/OpinionatedWaffles 7. Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and Claire (Molly Gordon) in The Bear Chuck Hodes / FX on Hulu / Courtesy Everett Collection Suggested by u/CBonafide"Yeah, that is such a weird one. I mean, I get the idea of giving Carmy a calming presence outside of his chaotic life, but the narrative seems so confused about it.
Season 2 seemed to be building up the idea that the two are just a respite, but have nothing in common, and that being together was a bad thing, as it was causing Carmy to neglect his responsibilities at critical times.
In Season 3, they seemed to switch and act like she was his lost love and only chance at happiness.
Then, Season 4 more or less seems to give up on the idea of them being a couple, and she's just a family friend. That last one actually makes Claire the most interesting, so I'm not complaining, but it's weird that their dynamics are all over the shop.
It's bizarrely weak in a show that otherwise has a lot of great relationships and character dynamics."-u/MGD109"He doesn't even seem to like her very much, and we're supposed to believe in Season 2 that she's his great lost love or something."-u/clumsyc 8. Jake (Andy Samberg) and Amy (Melissa Fumero) from Brooklyn Nine-Nine Fox / Via youtube.com "People get very angry at me when I say this, but Jake and Amy from Brooklyn Nine-Nine."-u/Hup110516"They have a wonderfully healthy relationship, but absolutely zero chemistry to me. It's just food jokes and high fives. He acts like her brother."-u/peachpavlova 9. Lucy (Dakota Johnson) and Harry (Pedro Pascal) in Materialists Atsushi Nishijima / A24 / courtesy Everett Collection "These two, which is wild considering the interviews they did together were filled with chemist
