Finding the perfect movie to watch is always a challenge. Maybe you and your friends keep a running list of films for the next movie night, or maybe you just open up Netflix and see what you find. If you're still struggling to pick the right movie for your mood, Watch With Us recommends one of these underrated Netflix films this weekend. Starring actors like Rose Byrne, Jake Gyllenhaal and Idina Menzel, they range from comedy to tragedy and are guaranteed to keep you glued to the screen. 'Okja' (2017) Before he won multiple Oscars for his 2019 masterpiece Parasite, Bong Joon-ho directed Okja, a strange and heart-wrenching story about a young girl and her genetically modified super pig. (It's Bong Joon-ho - are you really surprised that it's weird?) The Mirando corporation, run by twins Lucy and Nancy Mirando (both played by Tilda Swinton), creates 26 of these enormous animals and sends the piglets around the world to be raised on different farms, with the promise that one of them will eventually be crowned the best pig. 3 Underrated HBO Max Movies to Watch This Weekend (August 22-24) Mija (Ahn Seo-hyun) and Okja, one of the pigs, do everything together - but when Okja "wins" the competition and is taken away to be slaughtered, Mija partners with a rebellious animal rights organization, led by Jay (Paul Dano), to get her back. The phenomenal ensemble cast features Jake Gyllenhaal, Giancarlo Esposito and Steven Yeun, to name a few. Okja alternates between hilarious and devastating, and it may make you consider becoming a vegetarian. 'Neighbors' (2014) This college comedy is one of our favorites in the genre, on par with Animal House or Legally Blonde (technically a law school comedy, but why quibble?). What we love about Neighbors is that it pits actual young, cool people against adults who want to think they're young and cool, allowing for some interesting ideas about growing up and how you know when you're actually mature. Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) Radner are new parents and new homeowners whose lives are upended when a fraternity moves in next door. Led by Teddy (Zac Efron) and Pete (Dave Franco), the frat brothers are wild partiers, keeping the Radners and their baby daughter Stella up all night. Soon, an elaborate war begins, and predictably, things get a little out of hand. The jokes are great, the pranks are wild and some life lessons are learned. Neighbors is a hilarious and lighthearted comedy you'll love. 11 Must-Watch Comedy Movies on Netflix Right Now (July 2025) 'You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah' (2023) It's a Sandler family affair with a whole lot of heart! You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, based on the YA novel of the same name, follows Stacy Freedman (Sunny Sandler), a teenage girl whose Bat Mitzvah is fast approaching. She wants a perfect party that will guarantee her future popularity, but her parents (Adam Sandler and Idina Menzel) and sister (Sadie Sandler) aren't making it easy. 3 Underrated Prime Video Movies to Watch This Weekend (August 22-24) To make matters worse, her best friend, Lydia (Samantha Lorraine), kisses her crush, leading to a feud that makes Stacy question whether she wants to have a Bat Mitzvah at all. This movie is funny, heartfelt and sweet. It's also painfully relatable to anyone who's ever been 13, whether they had a Bat Mitzvah or not.
