Greg Olsen had nothing but effusive praise for his friend Travis Kelce's relationship with girlfriend Taylor Swift after spending a memorable weekend with the couple. Olsen, 40, and Kelce, 35, cocreated Tight End University with San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle. At this year's gathering in June, Swift, also 35, appeared with Kelce at the opening night party and even surprised the crowd in Nashville with a live performance. "I think there were a couple of times throughout the course of the night where we were all looking at each other like, 'Is this really happening?'" Olsen exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting his Youth Inc. platform for youth sports families, coaches and teams. "Is this what TEU has grown into? We're just grateful for it." Olsen, who played 14 seasons in the NFL and now works as a color analyst for Fox Sports, was left impressed by how Swift managed to integrate herself into the community of football players and their families so seamlessly. 'The Kingdom' Gives Insight Into Early Days of Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce "She was super gracious," Olsen said. "She was taking pictures with my [12-year-old] daughter [Talbot]. Just the connections she made with so many people there, you can tell why people rave about her when they get around her. For two and a half days, she was part of the group and just had a really good time. After the initial shock, I think people tried to be respectful of her enjoying her time with Travis." Olsen and Kelce became friends a decade ago when Olsen was playing with the Carolina Panthers and Kelce was busy making a name for himself during his first couple of seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. "He's just the guy you want to have around," Olsen said of Kelce. "He's the life of the party. He makes everyone feel welcome. There's no outsiders, there's no barrier. He's just a very social, outgoing, comfortable-in-his-own-skin type of guy. He's been like that forever." Given that description, Olsen said it "makes sense" why Kelce and Swift make such a formidable pair. "I look forward to hanging with them a couple of times a year, getting to call some of his games, which is always a blast," Olsen said. "Good people find good people. You can tell that they have that connection. I think in today's world, especially under the microscope that they are, it's probably harder to find than you think." In addition to his work with Fox Sports and Tight End U, Olsen recently launched Youth Inc. as a commerce and content platform centered around youth sports. Why Frances Tiafoe Jokingly Calls Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes 'A--holes' Youth Inc. blends expert-driven content, including Olsen's "Youth Inc." podcast, with a modern marketplace where you can buy premium gear, fanwear and custom team apparel from top brands that allow you to support your favorite youth sports teams. "There's so many more decisions now around youth sports for these young kids," Olsen explained. "Picking what team they want to play for, what school they want to go to. They're bouncing around, they're transferring. It's a very discombobulated and different world than what traditional youth sports was growing up. It didn't usually become serious until high school." Olsen - who also shares Talbot and sons Tate, 14, and T.J., 12, with his wife, Kara - continued, "Now that atmosphere has really moved down to as young as 10 and 11 years old. There's a lot of beauty that comes with it, a lot of positives that come with it. We try to make sure to highlight that as well. But there's also some pitfalls. I think it's our job to present both sides of that." To subscribe to Youth Inc., click here.
