However, it marks the debut of the two former Bachelor Nation leads co-hosting a series together, one that's a first-of-its-kind show. Are You My First? enlists the "hottest group of virgins ever assembled search for intimacy, love - and maybe their first..." time having sex. It's a wild concept for a dating show, though reality TV isn't foreign to unique structures, and neither are Bristowe or Underwood. Bristowe led The Bachelorette in 2015 before temporarily co-hosting the series for a few seasons. Meanwhile, Underwood's virginity was the main storyline during his leading spin on The Bachelor in 2019, and two years later, he came out as gay. When this offer to host a reality dating show with a cast full of virgin singles was brought to you both, what was your reaction? Did you hesitate at all? KAITLYN BRISTOWE Zero hesitation from me. I just was wondering why, as someone who is very open about having sex in their life and in relationships, I was asked to be part of a show about virginity. But once I heard about the concept and I knew Colton was a part of it, he had zero hesitation. It was kind of what you said, like there's always these outlandish concepts for shows, and it was one of those things that Colton and I both thought, How is this the first time we're doing this show? UNDERWOOD When I first heard about the project, I immediately called my team and said, "I want to be involved in some way, shape, form or fashion." It's a full-circle moment for me back on what I would call my home network of ABC, Disney, Hulu. I was at a point in my life where I was in a really good position to feel like I was capable of stepping back in front of the camera and letting people in, and also be there for the cast. Kaitlyn and I both took on a lot of responsibility, and we both still are very protective over them because we've been in their shoes before. We know what they're gonna go through. You're both former leads from the Bachelor world, and you've both had very contrasting relationships with sex on the show. Do you think that's why you both were selected to host Are You My First?, specifically as a duo? BRISTOWE I'm sure that's part of it. And then I have experience with hosting, and I've always wanted to be a part of a show in a hosting role. I think maybe they were like, "Well, Kaitlyn could step in for the advice if they choose to, you know, have their first." UNDERWOOD Kaitlyn is so humble, too, but I think the show only works with co-hosts. I think understanding and having a male and a female point of view is so important for a show like this. I am not qualified or equipped to have some of the conversations that Kaitlyn was having with some of the women, and I think she would say vice versa. It was really a no-brainer once we got on camera together. We're just like, "Oh, this is it. This is us." And we knew what had to be done in the job that we were hired to do. What was your initial reaction when you did learn that it was going to be both of you, Colton and Kaitlyn, co-hosting together? UNDERWOOD Pumped. BRISTOWE We've always loved each other. I told Colton I had a crush on him before I knew he was gay. And sometimes I had to remind myself that while we were filming, because I just love him so much. I'm like, "He's gay, Kaitlyn. Married, with a baby!" UNDERWOOD And then [my husband] Jordan showed up to set, and she's like, "Oh yeah, right." BRISTOWE "Okay, back off." But it was a testament to our chemistry. UNDERWOOD Once we had the conversation when Kaitlyn was there, I was like, This is it. We have such similarities in our stories, but our stories are so different that we really were like that perfect combination to help balance the cast and take them through this experience. Are You My First? Disney/Jeff Daly Why do you think that virginity is such a narrative storyline in reality TV shows, especially coming from the Bachelor Nation world? BRISTOWE Virginity and having se
