Catherine Zeta-Jones is opening up about living in four homes with husband Michael Douglas. "I know it sounds very jet set, and I love to surround myself with beauty but it's not excessive, it's very comfortable," Zeta-Jones, 55, told The Times in an interview published on Sunday, August 17. Zeta-Jones and Douglas, 80, have two homes in New York, one in Canada and one in Spain. The couple enjoys spending time in Spain, where they can take a step back from the Hollywood spotlight. "Two celebrities together make 10. It's just the way it is. There's two versions of the story and there's two make-believes," she said. "We don't listen to the crap that is written about us, that's the main thing. And we respect our space, we're independent spirits." Look Inside Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones' $12 Million Home for Sale She continued, "We are very similar; we were born on the same day, 25 years apart. We're not afraid to be verbal, to express ourselves. I wear everything on my sleeve and so does he, which is good." Douglas, who tied the knot with Zeta-Jones in 2000, shared in July that he has "no real intentions" of acting again. (Douglas and Zeta-Jones share son Dylan, 25, and daughter Carys, 22. He is also dad to Cameron, 46, whom he shares with ex-wife Diandra Luker.) "I have not worked since 2022 purposefully because I realized I had to stop," Douglas said at a press conference during the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic, per Variety. He continued, "I had been working pretty hard for almost 60 years, and I did not want to be one of those people who dropped dead on the set. I have no real intentions of going back. I say I'm not retired because if something special came up, I'd go back, but otherwise, no." Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones' Relationship Timeline Douglas shared that he is content with his career, noting that there is "one little independent movie" that he is "trying to get a good script out of." However, Douglas noted that "in the spirit of maintaining a good marriage," he is "happy to play the wife" to Zeta-Jones moving forward. Zeta-Jones, for her part, is happy for her husband's next chapter - but isn't ruling out the possibility of him returning to show business. "Michael has definitely earned the chance to slow down," Zeta-Jones said. "But I never say never. He's his father's son and loves to work - let's just say, 'retirement' is a flexible concept."
