Sony's Crunchyroll is looking to deepen the moviegoing demographics on the first weekend of summer with anime fans with the release of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea on May 1. The second film in the Slime franchise will go up against 20th Century Studio's The Devil Wears Prada 2, Neon's horror movie Hokum and Angel Studio's Animal Farm. The anime series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime debuted in 2018, and it's based on a bestselling manga and light novel series which has sold over 56M copies.
