Donald Trump's standing with one of his most reliable political blocs, white evangelical Christians, has weakened since the start of his second term, according to new polling that Republican strategists are watching closely ahead of the 2026 midterms. A new NPR/PBS News/Marist Poll found that 64 percent of white evangelical Christians approved of Trump's job performance in late April, down 5 points from late January. The survey, conducted among 1,322 adults through phone, text and online interviews, had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
