New Heights / youtu.be (That's a football reference, btw.) The pop star and Kansas City Chiefs tight end have come a long way since they started dating back in 2023. Fast forward to 2025, and now Taylor's a special guest on Travis's podcast with his brother Jason, New Heights, admitting the embarrassing question she asked on their first date. Matt Winkelmeyer / Getty Images for The Recording Academy, Christian Petersen / Getty Images Taylor's appearance on an Aug. 13 episode was major because she announced her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, a monumental occasion for any fan of her music. But if you're part of the crossover crowd like me (Swiftie-adjacent football fan), her story about their first date became your Roman Empire. New Heights / youtu.be The "Karma" singer praised Travis for being "non judgmental" because she wasn't always privy to football culture. She was a stranger to the inner workings of the NFL when they met. "On our first date, I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl and he looked across the field, across the line of scrimmage and saw his brother standing on the other like five feet in front of him on the field," Taylor said. See our Taylor Swift Discussions If you don't understand why that is a ridiculous question. Don't worry, no judgment here. But it's a wild question because Travis and Jason's positions aren't on the field at the same time. Bruce Yeung / Getty Images Taylor now knows "what an insane" question that was, saying Travis "didn't even look at me." New Heights / youtu.be "He was like, 'Actually, I'm on the offense and my brother is on the offense. I'm only on the field the same time as the defense,'" she said, quietly admitting, "I thought everyone was on there at the same time." "I thought it was like Jared Goff is here and Josh Allen's here... and they blow a whistle and they go at each other." New Heights / youtu.be It won't happen because Jared and Josh are both quarterbacks and offensive players. Michael Owens / Getty Images, Bryan M. Bennett / Getty Images "I didn't know what a first down was. I didn't know what the chains were. I didn't know what a tight end was," Taylor added. New Heights / youtu.be Travis praised Taylor's newfound dedication to the game. "I'm forever thankful for you diving into football wholeheartedly." New Heights / youtu.be Taylor said she "fell in love" with the sport and is now "obsessed" with football. "I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We drafted Xavier Worthy!'" she said, referring to the wide receiver picked by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. "My friends are like, 'Who bodysnatched you? What do you mean?'" Kathryn Riley / Getty Images Travis, Taylor, and Jason talked more than just football on the New Heights podcast, revealing that Life of a Showgirl is out on Oct. 3 and will be produced alongside Max Martin and Shellback. Taylor also unveiled the much-anticipated tracklist. New Heights / youtu.be If you were in the same boat as Taylor and just learned something new about football, don't stress. There's A LOT of rules. I'm just looking forward to the sequel of this podcast where Travis explains what he did and didn't know about the lore of Taylor's nearly two-decade career.
