Charlie Sheen is addressing his scandalous past in a new Netflix documentary, which features appearances from some very surprising people in his life. Netflix released a first look of the doc on Wednesday, August 13, in which Sheen, 59, spoke to filmmaker Andrew Renzi about his rise to stardom - and hitting rock bottom amid addiction struggles. In the sneak peek, Sheen's exes Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller were interviewed, as was Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre and costar Jon Cryer. Sheen's brother, Ramon Estevez, was the only family member - outside of the actor's youngest daughter with Richards, Lola - to participate. Sean Penn, Heidi Fleiss and Chris Tucker were also featured in the documentary trailer before Sheen's former drug dealer, Marco, spoke about the actor "smoking seven gram rocks." The film, titled aka Charlie Sheen, will be released on September 10. It is a two-part special that highlights Sheen's childhood in Malibu, his success in the '80s and '90s, and his personal life making headlines due to drug use over the years. Winning! See Charlie Sheen Through the Years According to a press release, in aka Charlie Sheen "the most outrageous moments of Sheen's life are revisited with raw emotion and exceptional warmth, painting a portrait of a flawed man whose penchant for self-destruction is ultimately no match for the ferocious love and forgiveness he inspires in those closest to him." The documentary will be released one day after Sheen's memoir, The Book of Sheen, hits bookshelves. "Of all the Hollywood bad boys in history, Charlie Sheen might be the baddest of them all," Gallery Books Senior Vice President and Publisher Jennifer Bergstrom said in a statement. "Now nearly eight years sober, Charlie writes candidly of every detox, retox, drug deal and adventure along his challenging journey to freedom. We are so proud to share his story." Sheen reflected on his decision to write a book, adding, "My stories have been told for far too long through the eyes and pens of others. I think you'll agree, it's time to finally read these stories directly from the actual guy." After battling issues in the public eye, Sheen has been outspoken about tackling years of sobriety. 'Two and a Half Men' Creator Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen's Ups and Downs "I've mostly been raising my 14-year-old boys," he told People in December 2023 about his and Mueller's sons, Bob and Max. "Their mom has been trying to figure some stuff out on her end, so she's not in the picture too much right now." Sheen joked that his youngest kids don't care that he is an actor, adding, "It doesn't matter, whatever we're doing that might be important and connected to our job, or some high brow moment of responsibility, the kids don't care." Sheen is also dad to daughters Sami, 21, and Lola, 20, with Richards, 54, and daughter Cassandra Jade Estevez, 40, with Paula Profit.
