A24 releases director Josh Safdie's feature in theaters Dec. 25. Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A'Zion, Kevin O'Leary, Tyler Okonma (aka Tyler, the Creator), Abel Ferrara and Fran Drescher round out the cast. Marty Supreme centers on Chalamet as Marty Mauser, who pursues an ambitious dream that no one else seems to respect. The footage features Chalamet's character in a thrilling ping-pong match and also shows him doing his best to explain the sport's appeal. "And it's only a matter of time before I'm staring at you from the cover of a Wheaties box." Another moment in the trailer features Chalamet trying to impress Paltrow's glamorous character. "I've never talked to an actual movie star," Chalamet says. "You know, I'm something of a performer, too." Safdie helmed the film from the script he co-wrote with Ronald Bronstein. Chalamet, Safdie, Bronstein, Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas serve as producers. The project reunites Safdie with A24 after the company produced his two most recent films, Good Time (2017) and Uncut Gems (2019), both of which he co-directed with brother Benny Safdie. This is Chalamet's first movie since last year's music biopic A Complete Unknown, which landed the actor an Oscar nomination for his lead role as Bob Dylan. Marty Supreme marks Josh Safdie's first solo directorial feature since 2008's The Pleasure of Being Robbed. Benny Safdie directed Dwayne Johnson in A24's The Smashing Machine, with the biopic of former wrestler and mixed martial artist Mark Kerr hitting theaters Oct. 3.
