As you probably know, the film is all about Greg meeting his future in-laws for the first time, with Robert De Niro playing his terrifying soon-to-be father-in-law, Jack Byrnes, who takes an instant dislike to him. Here, Greg and Pamela make their parents spend time together ahead of their wedding, with Barbra Streisand and Dustin Hoffman famously taking on the roles of Greg's mom and dad. (C)Universal/Courtesy Everett Collection While little is known about Focker In-Law, it is thought that Ariana will be playing the fiancée of Greg and Pam's son - and Ben heaped praise on the star when discussing her casting during an appearance on Today back in June. Gilbert Flores / Getty Images Ben said at the time that while he can't share too much information, he is excited to have Ariana in the movie because she is "so great with comedy.""She's going to be really, really funny and kind of the whole engine of the new movie," he added at the time.
And Ariana was equally excited when she posted about the film on her Instagram story, where she wrote: "Very thrilled to be joining (meeting) the family!!!!!!!" Then, last month, it was reported that Superman actor Skyler Gisondo was in talks to star opposite Ariana in Focker In-Law, playing Greg and Pam's son. River Callaway / Getty Images At the time, this news received a mixed response, and one popular reply to a Film Updates tweet about the report was from an Ariana fan account, which read: "why are directors afraid to put her with someone HOT." X @arianatorswildt / Via x.com Fast-forward to Tuesday, and 29-year-old Skyler confirmed his role in the upcoming movie by sharing a screenshot of a Deadline news report about his casting to Instagram.
