Two watchdog groups are suing President Donald Trump in an effort to force him to preserve presidential records. The American Historical Association, the largest membership association of historians in the world, and American Oversight, a nonprofit government watchdog group, filed the lawsuit in federal court in Washington, D.C. The suit challenges the Justice Department's decision under the Trump administration to effectively free President Trump from a nearly 50-year-old federal law requiring the preservation and public release of White House records.
