I've been deep in the K-pop rabbit hole for a decade - listening, understanding, decoding and learning music beyond my comfort zone. I am picky with what I stick with, but I have followed groups like BTS and Mamamoo closely, almost religiously, because they can sing. I have also followed TWICE, not just for their music, but for their work ethic. Their consistency and perseverance stand out in a crazily demanding industry with attention to rat races. But BLACKPINK never worked for me. Despite their scale and marketing, I never became a fan.
