A federal judge has ruled that President Donald Trump's executive order ending federal funding for National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting Service is unconstitutional. In a 62-page opinion, U.S. District Judge Randolph Moss of the District of Columbia said the May 2025 order violated the First Amendment by engaging in "viewpoint discrimination and retaliation." Moss found the order unlawful and unenforceable, adding that free speech protections "do not tolerate viewpoint discrimination and retaliation of this type.
