Cardi B responded after she was called anti-fat for her odd reaction to her 3X merch selling out. Frazer Harrison / Getty Images In a livestream from earlier this month, which was recently reposted on Reddit, Cardi B talked about underestimating how much 3X merch she should have stocked for a recent fashion drop. She had earlier released three "box sets" for her upcoming album, Am I the Drama?, which came with their own specially designed T-shirt and a CD with a signed art card. As of writing, all three are sold out on Cardi B's website. Elsa / Getty Images "The box sets are completely sold out, especially because you fat fucks," she said on the livestream. "You guys are fat as fuck!" Cardi repeated. "No Chick-fil-A for y'all. All the 3X sold out! Y'all, the 3X sold out like in 20 minutes!" Cardi B Perhaps anticipating backlash, Cardi quickly added, "I can't even make fun of fat people no more." But then she justified her actions by pointing to the negative commentary she receives about her own body. Cardi argued, "Don't call me fat-phobic, y'all, because everybody make fun of my BBL. So I can body-shame people 'cause y'all body-shame me." Cardi B As you can imagine, the video went super viral, with many fans expressing shock, anger, and complete disbelief at Cardi's remarks. Writing on Reddit, one person said, "Fat shaming people that are supporting you is crazy work." Another agreed, "Yeah this is strange. There are steadfast fans of every size, so why would you call out a single group?" Stephane Cardinale - Corbis / Getty Images Another wondered, "Is this supposed to be funny?" One Reddit user expressed that "usually when she's unhinged it's funny but this ain't it. It's rude." Marcus Ingram / Getty Images "Rude as hell," commented another. "My younger sister wears 2X/3X and I would hate for her to see this from an artist she likes." Mike Coppola / Getty Images Someone else said, "What a terrible business decision to be rude to the people who sell out your merch first." While this person absolutely could not believe Cardi's comments. "WOW," they wrote. "Money cannot buy class Cardi B." An eighth fan also pointed out, "jokes aside everyone wears their t-shirts oversized af now." Jason Koerner / Getty Images Cardi addressed the criticism in a subsequent TikTok video, telling viewers it wasn't that serious. "On Twitter, it was like a joke between me and my fans on like, 'Damn, you fat motherfuckas. Why y'all bought all the 3X that fast?'" she explained. "It's never that serious. Don't cry about it." She also insisted the comments were harmless because "I make fun of everybody." @iamcardib This is BARDIGANG fault for some reason ♬ original sound - Cardi B "If I got y'all so upset, here. Here's a cupcake," Cardi continued, offering a cupcake to the camera. "I'm not gonna apologize, though, because y'all fucking sensitive and wanna cry about some dumb shit." Pascal Le Segretain / Getty Images The video wound up receiving a response from TikTok influencer Samyra, who criticized Cardi's comments in a video. Calling her out by name, Samyra said, "Just because someone else makes a joke doesn't mean you have to make it, too." She also defended Cardi from body-shamers in the same breath, acknowledging that's not acceptable either. "No, they shouldn't be making fun of your BBL," Samyra stated. "But also no, you shouldn't be making fun of fat people." Her response then got a reaction from Cardi, who told Samyra to "shut the fuck up" before continuing to defend her stance and refuse to apologize. @iamcardib #stitch with @Samyra ♬ original sound - Cardi B And once again, people were left cringing at Cardi's remarks. Reddit / Via reddit.com So far, Samyra hasn't responded to Cardi's comments - except to say that she was temporarily leaving TikTok and Instagram because of online "harassment" sparked from the posts. BuzzFeed has reached out to Cardi's reps for comment, but in the meantime, you can see the note here. @samyra / Via instagram.com
