News broke in May that The CW acquired the U.S. broadcast rights to seasons 1 and 2 of the Canadian procedural. Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent initially debuted in its home country in 2024 and follows the format of Dick Wolf's Law & Order franchise but was developed by Rene Balcer for Universal Television.
