Machine Gun Kelly revealed that he missed the 2024 holiday season because of a stay in rehab. "Here's the real truth. I spent Christmas and New Year's - the whole month of December and late November - in rehab facility," Kelly, 35, said during a Friday, August 8, appearance on The New York Times' "Popcast" podcast. "I came out [and] the world was very loud about me and my personal business." During his rehab stay, news broke that Kelly and longtime love Megan Fox had broken up. Fox, 39, also announced that she was pregnant with their rainbow baby. (The duo welcomed daughter Saga in March.) "Ironically, neither me or Megan have said anything," Kelly continued. "Still to this day, there could have been zero drama, and you would never know, because none of us have said one thing." MGK Is 'Taking Some Time Away' After Megan Fox Split: Source Kelly admitted that he was "somewhat aware" of what was being said while in rehab but was without his phone for a majority of his time within the facility. Elsewhere in the podcast episode, Kelly offered further insight into what led to this rehab stay. "I went to rehab a couple times before. I guess, I don't know how much I would actually say," he shared. "There's a song called 'Treading Water' - it's track 12 on the album - that's probably the closest to, maybe, it's almost like the music speaks better than how I would be able to articulate it." "Treading Water" was released on Friday, as one of the songs on Kelly's Lost Americana album. "I wrote this in Room Three, spending Christmas in rehabilitation / I got no phone, just a cell that I'm trapped in while my home's vacant / I'm an inpatient, but I lost patience," the lyrics read. "I just broke somethin', but I'm fixated on the gossip that I know is happenin' / While I'm just being left out of the conversation / It's a complicated relationship, that's nobody's business." Megan Fox Has 'A Lot of Love' for MGK Despite 'Trust Issues': Sources Kelly appears to be referencing the public's fascination regarding his relationship with Fox. "That the public has been ruinin' my reputation / And it's crazy, seeing quotations from a source that somebody curated / 'Cause for me, y'all can feel pure hatred," the song continues. "But just keep our baby out this situation / It's a long road to redemption, and a shorter one to damnation / I know which one is my destination / But the journey doesn't come without the frustrations / Like it doesn't come without the temptations / And failure can lead to an elevation." Kelly's discussion about his recent rehab stint comes one year after he spoke publicity about his sobriety journey for the first time. "I'm completely sober from everything. I don't drink anymore," Kelly said during an August 2024 appearance on the "Dumb Blonde" podcast. "I haven't drank since last August."
