HBO's Game of Thrones prequel has tapped Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody) as Lady Rohanne of Coldmoat, a.k.a. the Red Widow; Babou Ceesay (Alien: Earth) as Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield; and Peter Mullan (Westworld) as Ser Eustace Osgrey of Standfast in the Reach. The actors join returning stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan "Dunk" the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg in the second season, which is based on George R.R. Martin's novella The Sworn Sword. The season is expected to film in Spain, which was also a filming location for many episodes of Game of Thrones (though it was typically used for Dorne or Essos scenes rather than Westeros). Showrunner Ira Parker previously told The Hollywood Reporter about season two: "It'll still be six episodes. I think the scope will be the same, maybe even smaller. The budget has stayed the same, but everything is more expensive due to inflation. Plus, book two takes place in a drought, so we can't shoot exteriors in Belfast. We have to go to a sunny location with no water, which costs money - that's a major expense that we did not have in season one. I'm having a lot of fun with season two. It's going to be a different season, and, I hope, for the better." Knight recently got series-high ratings for its debut season finale and is averaging 14 million U.S. viewers across all platforms and 26 million worldwide, HBO says. The news follows a blizzard of Thrones-verse news lately. There was yesterday's confirmation that a Game of Thrones movie is in the works at Warner Bros. telling the story of King Aegon I Targaryen's conquest of Westeros. The project is being written by Beau Willimon (Andor, House of Cards). Last week, House of the Dragon, which returns this summer, released its action-packed third season trailer. Also, Martin and HBO announced that the world of Game of Thrones is coming to the stage, with the upcoming Game of Thrones: The Mad King play coming to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon this summer. Knight will return for season two sometime in 2027.
