Kyle Cooke's hefty Loverboy debt has nothing to do with Amanda Batula. Batula, 34, explained that Cooke's highly publicized debt was "from a business loan he took out before we got married" during an interview with Marie Claire published on Tuesday, March 3. "If the business can't pay it back, then Kyle's responsible," she explained. "To my knowledge and his understanding, [the debt] doesn't involve me in any way, but a prenup would have protected me 100 percent from it." Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images for SiriusXM Batula wanted to clear the air because "everyone's freaking out about it" following their split. Batula and Cooke, 43, announced in January that they decided to split after four years of marriage. "After much reflection, we have mutually and amicably decided to part ways as a couple," the former couple shared in a joint statement at the time. "We share this with a heavy heart and kindly ask for your grace and support while we focus on our personal growth and healing." Oops! Kyle Cooke Didn't Mean to 'Blurt Out' His 'Legal Woes' on 'Summer House' The statement concluded, "It feels ironic to ask for privacy during this time since we've always tried to be open and honest about our relationship, but your kindness and respect will go a long way as we try to navigate our next chapter." Batula has confirmed that there was no prenup in their marriage, further explaining why that's not a decision she'd make again. "Everyone needs a prenup. It doesn't matter if you make millions of dollars or how in love you are," she said in the interview published on Tuesday. "It's like health insurance; you get it to protect yourself if something happens." Cooke revealed in 2022 that he was $4 million in debt because of the Loverboy business loan. His alcoholic beverage company was founded in 2018. He previously addressed fans' concerns about Batula taking on the debt in their impending divorce, saying in a January interview that they "don't really plan" on getting involved in a messy split. During Tuesday's interview, Batula also addressed the backlash Cooke is facing from Summer House viewers after criticizing his now-ex's weed usage during the show's 10th season, which is currently airing. Kyle Cooke Claimed Amanda Batula Smoked Weed 'Every Night' Before Split Batula told Marie Claire that she's "always been very open about smoking weed," so it wasn't a huge bombshell for viewers. "I've never been ashamed or tried to hide it. I smoke weed every night at the house on camera," she said. "We have a little balcony outside the primary bedroom, where I go out to smoke my little joint - Bravo just doesn't air those scenes." Batula noted that there are "clips" from the show with her "little weed pen" on her nightstand. "Also, we have a THC drink called Flowerboy, which Kyle consumes himself. So what the hell is the problem?" she continued. "He just doesn't like that I smoke it. But let me do what I want to my body. You're destroying your liver; I'm destroying my lungs. We'll both die happy." Batula confirmed that Cooke was "absolutely" trying to weaponize her weed usage. "He was trying to shame me, make me seem like a bad person, since I get high every night before I go to sleep. Some people get high all day. People go to work and walk around high," she said. "I'm not a social high; I need to be on the couch, in my own space, before bed. It doesn't affect my lifestyle in any way. That's why it was so crazy for him to say that. He really thought he had something on me there."
