Jill Duggar is opening up about how she finds "a space to feel" after giving birth to her stillborn daughter, Isla Marie. "Life is a constant combination of ups and downs, joy and sorrow, roses and thorns. I'm thankful for God's faithfulness through all," Duggar, 34, wrote via Instagram on Friday, February 27, alongside a selfie of herself at Isla's grave. "Anyone who has experienced loss knows that it's often in the quiet moments when the waves come stronger and we are reminded more of the hole left by a loss." She continued, "Or sometimes it's felt deeper at a place that just gives you the space to feel. I'm so grateful to have a place to go to remember our daughter." Duggar, who shares three sons with husband Derek Dillard, revealed in April 2024 that their daughter "died in utero" one month earlier. The Duggar Family's Emotional Quotes About Pregnancy Loss "It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful baby girl, Isla Marie Dillard," the Counting On alum and Dillard, 36, wrote in a joint statement. "Jill was 4 months pregnant (due in August) when we found out that our baby died in utero. From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn't wait to meet our baby." They added at the time, "Isla was much loved from the start, and her 3 big brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world. We appreciate your prayers as we continue to grieve and heal from the loss of our little Isla Marie." Jill, one of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's 19 children, has since been candid about her grief. "For whatever it's worth, if you or someone you know experiences a pregnancy loss (no matter the gestation), cemeteries often have a designated baby burial area with much lower fees (or even free!) for babies and infants," Jill added in her Friday upload. "Not everyone chooses to bury or process the same, but I think everyone should be aware of the option." Jill and Dillard opted to bury their late daughter in a local Arkansas cemetery, which they frequently visit. Jill Duggar and Family Bring Flowers to Stillborn Daughter's Grave "I was made aware of the free burial options when my mom lost my youngest sister at 20 weeks gestation," Jill explained, referring to Michelle's 2011 miscarriage. "I am so glad we were also able to benefit from this generous gift to hurting angel families." Jill, who has been married to Dillard since 2014, previously suffered a miscarriage in 2021. "We recently found out we were expecting our third baby," Jill and Dillard captioned an Instagram video in October 2021. "We were thrilled! However, a few days later we started miscarrying." Jill named her late child River Bliss. "One meaning for River is 'tranquil,' and here in Arkansas, rivers are often a serene, beautiful escape in nature," she wrote in a blog post about naming her late baby. "We also like how the River talked about in the Bible represents God's life-giving presence. The river of life, 'flows from the throne of God,' and with the tree of life is 'for the healing of the nations.'" She continued, "Our baby doesn't get to live here with us on earth, but is forever with the source of the river of life, in the presence of the Lord! And we chose Bliss for a middle name because our baby is living in perfect bliss with the Lord and was such a gift that brought immense joy and happiness to us even though only with us here on earth for a short time."
