Aaron Carter's ex-fiancée, Melanie Martin, shut down accusations that she has been making "illegal" withdrawals from the late pop star's accounts amid a legal battle with his mother, Jane Schneck. Martin, the mother of Carter's 4-year-old son, Prince, denied Schneck's claims that she took out a total of $24,530.57 in a statement on Thursday, February 26, telling TMZ, "Jane is uninformed on Aaron's financials." Martin, 33, told the outlet that Carter publicly announced that he had given her his LOVE business, "which he said on Instagram Live in the past," also claiming they had joint accounts prior to his death on November 5, 2022, at age 34. Martin spoke out after Schneck filed court docs stating her concerns related to an accounting report submitted by a court-appointed estate administrator, suggesting that Carter's name, image and likeness were worth more than listed. The late singer's mom claimed that Martin activated a website under her name to sell Aaron Carter-themed merchandise promoted with his name and likeness in early 2023. Carter and Martin got engaged in June 2020 and called it off about a week after the birth of their son in November 2021. They had an on-and-off relationship leading up until Carter's death. Carter's mom said she offered to buy the rights for her late son's name and likeness for $30,000 after flagging the issue to the court, but got rejected over the phone by the estate administrator, whom she alleged is "partial" to Martin. Schneck wanted to clarify that "[Martin] is a good mother to" her grandson "and that she takes care of his daily physical and emotional needs." Carter's mother stated that she "fully accepts her fair share of blame for creating the bad relationship between her and Melanie," noting that she has stayed quiet during alleged online attacks by Martin for over a year and does not wish any "legal harm" to her son's ex-fiancée. Nick Carter and Brother Aaron Carter's Ups and Downs Through the Years Schneck added that she is "willing to believe that [Melanie] truly believed she was entitled to the money she took from the estate." Martin, for her part, shared her grievances in a Facebook post shared in December 2025. "Hi guys, I'm just going to say it straight up: Aaron's mother is trying to gain rights to Prince's inheritance and his name. I have to pay a lot of court fees and lawyer fees in the next few months, so I'll be working extra hard on Love Merch and bartending in the meantime to pay for all the court fees and ensure my son gets Aaron's rightful inheritance," she wrote at the time. "Aaron didn't have much family but he did have fans and you all continue to care about Aaron's family which is Prince and I."
