Oof. This is a hard reality check. Savannah Guthrie is reportedly planning her return home to New York City after spending four weeks in Arizona amid the ongoing search for Nancy. According to DailyMail.com intel on Thursday, Savannah is starting to wrap her head around the hard truth that it "might take years" to find out what happened to her 84-year-old mother, who went missing from her home on February 1. And despite how devastating that is, the journalist knows she must get back to a new normal, a source shared: "She can't stay in Arizona forever. Her kids and her life are in New York City." And therefore, she's planning to return home sometime this weekend. Savannah is craving normalcy." And while things will never truly go back to normal, returning to the Big Apple is what her mother would want for her, the source noted: "It's what her mom would want her to do. Nancy was Savannah's biggest cheerleader." So f**king heartbreaking. A source for Rob Shuter's Substack added that Savannah has been a champ amid the investigation so far: "She has been remarkable. Strong, composed, faithful - even when she's breaking inside." Referencing new theories that the kidnapper may have had help, the source pointed out that Savannah will never let the criminals "destroy her life too," elaborating: "They might have taken her mother, but Savannah will not let them destroy her life too. Obviously if there is a big break in the case Savannah will be heading back to Tucson." Gosh, that's so, so hard. And it also suggests this may be becoming a cold case, which nobody wants to hear at this point. Ugh. As for her return home, it is also expected that she will return to work on the Today Show! NBC is reportedly already working on a comeback plan. It's unclear exactly how soon she wants to return, but this comes after her husband Michael Feldman checked in with staff before heading out to join his wife in Arizona. We wish Savannah and all the Guthrie kids the best as they figure out their next steps. We cannot imagine how painful it is to come to a realization like this or to carry on with their lives with so much left unanswered. Hopefully, the new $1 million reward will lead to more clues.
