On Dec. 14, 2025, beloved Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Los Angeles home, having both suffered apparent stab wounds. Within a matter of hours, their 32-year-old son, Nick, was arrested on suspicion of killing them. The New York Times reported that it was Romy who discovered her father's slain body when she went to her parents' property to check up on them. She allegedly "fled" the scene, not knowing that her mom was also dead inside the house. A source close to the family told the Times that Romy found out about Michele's death through a paramedic. Paul Archuleta / Getty Images Three days later, on Dec. 17, Jake and Romy issued a statement acknowledging the "horrific and devastating" deaths of their parents, saying: "Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day." "We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life." Since then, Romy and Jake have understandably been lying low. Now, an inside source has spoken to Entertainment Tonight about how they're doing in the aftermath of such an immense tragedy. The source said Romy and Jake are "devastated" and have been navigating "a whirlwind of emotions and stages of grief." They added that Romy is finding it "especially difficult," but that the siblings are leaning on each other for support. Prosecutors believe that Nick fatally stabbed Rob and Michele in the early hours of the morning on Dec. 14 before fleeing the property.
