Rockers William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock and Jesse Golliher became the actors behind the teenage rock band The Runarounds at the center of the musical coming-of-age drama set to bow on Sept. 1 on the streaming platform worldwide. Along with fellow cast members Lilah Pate, Maximo Salas, Kelley Pereira, Marley Aliah, Mark Wystrach, Brooklyn Decker, Hayes MacArthur and Shea Pritchard, the band members after high school graduation chase rock fame and success in Wilmington, North Carolina, while falling in love and partying as they pursue their dreams. The rock band had time to gel in front of the cameras. The Runarounds was formed as a band in 2021, when Jonas Pate issued a casting call for a group to appear on Outer Banks. The group first performed together when they played for Pate ahead of appearing in season three after being selected from more than 5,000 musicians who responded to the casting call. At the time, Pate had already begun writing what ultimately became The Runarounds, and the group filmed the pilot with Pate in 2022 and has since recorded an EP and gone out on tour. A synopsis from the producers reads: "Over the course of one unforgettable summer, they throw themselves into the pursuit of their big break - falling in love, getting into trouble and building the kind of bonds that feel like family along the way. With original music, romantic entanglements and the raw highs and lows of coming-of-age, The Runarounds captures the rush of risking everything at the edge of adulthood to chase your dreams." The Runarounds, which like Outer Banks was shot in North Carolina, is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Skydance Television. The executive producer credits are shared by Jonas Pate, Joon Yun, David Wilcox, Josh Pate, Shannon Burke, Scott Lambert, Lisa Mae Fincannon, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell.
