The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City women are supporting costar Mary Cosby after the death of her son, Robert Cosby Jr. Mary and husband Robert Cosby Sr. confirmed the news on Wednesday, February 25, sharing that their son has "been called home to the Lord." He was 23. "Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God's promise and in knowing he is finally at peace," the couple wrote in a statement to Us Weekly. "We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow." In a separate statement to Us, an attorney for the Cosby family shared that Mary and Robert Sr. are "mourning the loss of their beloved son." "His untimely passing is hard to comprehend, and the Cosbys are struggling to understand how someone so young and full of life could be gone so soon. Robert Jr.'s warm spirit, humor and kind heart will be missed," Clayton Simms exclusively told Us on Wednesday. He continued, "A favorite bible passage of the Cosby family is Ecclesiastes 1:2-8, which touches upon the idea that human pursuits, pleasures and accomplishments are fleeting and futile without spiritual purpose. This loss is sudden, and the family asks for privacy during this difficult time." Mary had been candid on the Bravo show about her efforts to support Robert Jr. amid his struggles with substance abuse. (Mary appeared on the first two seasons of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City as a Housewife before stepping away before season 3 and later returning as a friend of the housewives in season 4. The next season, she made her full return as a Housewife.) Bravo also paid tribute to Robert Jr. in a separate statement to Us. "We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Mary's beloved son, Robert Jr. Mary is a cherished member of our family, and our thoughts, love, and deepest condolences are with her and her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time," the network wrote.
