FBI director Kash Patel has faced plenty of heat for partying with Team USA men's hockey after it defeated Canada in the gold medal game at the 2026 Winter Olympics on Sunday, February 22. Now, an Epstein survivor has added to the outcry. Dani Bensky, who said she suffered abuse from Jeffrey Epstein between 2004 and 2005, called out Patel, 46, for celebrating when he could have been doing his job. "Why is the FBI director out there partying like a college kid when he should be investigating the vast criminal enterprise?" she asked in a news conference hosted by the Democratic Women's Caucus on Tuesday, February 24. "This administration needs to do better. How can anybody feel safe in this country when our president's sympathies are going to the former Prince Andrew and not to survivors?" She continued, "There are a few things that really need to be done immediately versus the release of all of the files, which we know. Next is to hold accountable those who continuously exploit. And the third is to pass Virginia's bill. We need to pass Virginia's bill because justice should never ever expire. Release the damn files." Team USA's Jack Hughes Reacts to Women's Team Skipping State of the Union Virginia's Law is named after Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide in 2025. Introduced by senate Democrats earlier this month, it aims to end the statute of limitations for civil sexual abuse cases. Patel has already commented on the backlash, which also includes criticism for using a taxpayer-funded airplane to fly to the Olympics for the event. "Yes, I love America and was extremely humbled when my friends, the newly minted Gold Medal winners on Team USA, invited me into the locker room to celebrate this historic moment with the boys," he wrote via X on Sunday. "Greatest country on earth and greatest sport on earth." Patel was at the center of another controversy during the celebration when President Donald Trump called to congratulate the players on their win and invite them to the White House and his State of the Union address. During the call, Trump made seemingly disparaging comments toward the Team USA women's hockey team, which also won the gold medal at the 2026 Games. USA Women's Hockey State of the Union Invite Provided 'Difficult' Problem "We have medals for you guys," Trump, 79, told the team. "I must tell you, we're going to have to bring the women's team." He added that if he did not invite the women's team he "probably would be impeached." Trump ultimately invited the women's team to Washington D.C. as well, though they declined to attend the State of the Union, which the president gave on Tuesday. "We are sincerely grateful for the invitation extended to our gold medal-winning U.S. Women's Hockey Team and deeply appreciate the recognition of their extraordinary achievement," a USA Hockey spokesperson said in a statement on Monday, February 23. "Due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games, the athletes are unable to participate." Trump claimed during his speech that the team would visit the White House "soon," as politicians from both sides of the aisle applauded the men's and women's teams' success.
