Brad Falchuk donated to the fundraising campaign supporting Eric Dane's family after his death at 53. Falchuk, 54, contributed a $10,000 donation, per a listing on a GoFundMe set up for Dane's next of kin. Us Weekly confirmed on Thursday, February 19, that Dane died after battling ALS. His friends subsequently organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to support the actor's two children, whom he shared with Rebecca Gayheart. "As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric's friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs," a statement on the fundraiser website reads. "Any contribution, no matter the size, will help provide stability during this incredibly difficult time and in the future for Eric's wonderful daughters." Eric Dane's Friend Defends GoFundMe Campaign Launched After His Death at 53 Just four months before his death, Dane spoke with Falchuk about his life, ALS battle and eventual mortality in a Famous Last Words interview for Netflix. "We reached out about him doing the show and then, as with all the guests the request is always, 'Will you just sit down with me and we'll chat a little bit about the show and see if there is a rapport?'" Falchuk told Extra on Friday, February 20, hours after the interview aired on the streaming platform. "Eric and I sat down and had dinner at his house, and we connected very deeply, very quickly." According to Falchuk, the Grey's Anatomy alum was "so honest and vulnerable and easy and funny and charming" during their pre-interview conversation. They filmed Famous Last Words weeks later in November 2025. "He was very open. He said there were no no's [or] nothing he didn't want to talk about," the TV producer recalled to the outlet. "It was really important to him that his daughters would watch this at some point and get a sense of who he was as a man entirely, not just as their dad. He wanted it to be true, he wanted it to be intimate [and] he wanted the real Eric to really be seen." Courtesy of Netflix Falchuk added, "He's an actor and, oftentimes, he's either acting or he's giving interviews that are in service [to] something else, whether it could be advocacy or a project or anything. This was just him being able to really be himself." Falchuk further praised Dane for being vulnerable in sharing his diagnosis and health battle. "I think he was so bold about it and so fearless about it that it really does, in my opinion," Falchuk said. "What stayed with me more than anything was just his spirit and his courage and his acceptance of his frailty and his defiance against being pitied and his defiance against the disease even though he's accepting it as it was happening. ... He really was grateful for his life and for everything that was happening to him - even as he hated it and even as he was angry about it." At the end of Famous Last Words, Dane also addressed Falchuk's role as an interviewer. "Thank you for allowing me to have this conversation with you," Dane said at the time. "I mean, I think this is probably the most revealing and in-depth conversation I've had with just about anybody. You asked the right questions."
