Scott Speedman is leading a new show on ABC - but that doesn't mean some familiar faces from Grey's Anatomy are totally out of reach. During Us Weekly's visit to the RJ Decker set in North Carolina, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Kevin Rankin, Adelaide Clemens and Bevin Bru previewed what fans can expect from the crime drama. They also threw in some suggestions for which Grey's Anatomy stars Speedman, 50, should ask to make a cameo. Ortiz, 39, who plays Emi, named Sandra Oh - or her fan-favorite character, Christina. "She's actually one of my favorites. So we should bring her to Florida," Ortiz told Us. Rankin, 49, who brings "Wish" to life on RJ Decker, pulled out the big guns by suggesting Speedman's onscreen love interest Ellen Pompeo. Based on Carl Hiaasen's novel Double Whammy, RJ Decker focuses on a disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con who "starts over as a private investigator in the colorful-if-crime-filled world of South Florida, tackling cases that range from slightly odd to outright bizarre, with the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife and a shadowy new benefactor - a woman from his past who could be his greatest ally ... or his one-way ticket back to prison." He then appeared as a main cast member during seasons 18 and 19 before taking a break from the show. "[The fans] have lots of thoughts. I thought it was gonna be a layup, me coming onto the show," Speedman said on SiriusXM's The Spotlight With Jessica Shaw in October 2024. "I'm not a big social media guy, but I remember going on after my first episodes debuted with [Meredith], and they tease like, 'There's this character coming back to the show.'" He continued: "And the fans, you know, on social media were not ... There was a lot of vomit emojis, which I was like, 'Oh, alright, alright.'" His commitment to the medical drama hasn't impacted his ability to also be front and center on RJ Decker. "Scott is great. He's such a professional. He shows up, he has all his lines memorized and he is just so great," Ortiz gushed to Us. "He's present and I love that every scene is different and it's very unexpected and unanticipated. There's something new that happens in every take and that's what I love the most." Clemens, 36, who plays RJ's ex-wife on the show, had a similar reaction to sharing the screen with Speedman, saying, "He's so fun. We have a great time and there's a lot of unspoken stuff that happens. It's really fun with our characters where they make each other laugh and even just the little things. When you've known someone so well, you know what they're going to say and what a little twitch of their eyebrow means. Things that irritate you also charm you." RJ Decker premieres on ABC Tuesday, March 3, at 10 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Hulu.
