The Madras High Court has placed on record the Tamil Nadu police's undertaking to protect theatres showing the film Kingdom, amid rising protests against it. The Vijay Deverakonda starrer has been accused of portraying Sri Lankan Tamilians in a negative light, and the Pro-Tamil outfit, Naam Thamizhar Katchi (NTK), staged protests in various parts of the state against the film. Protestors are also demanding a ban on the film. Police also had to intervene in certain places after protests turned violent.
