Since we've been enjoying all things Winter Olympics 2026, we thought we would take you on a trip down memory lane and take a look at what some of your favorite Olympic athletes are up to these days. Marco Bertorello / Getty Images Without further ado... 1. Simone Biles (gymnastics): Tim Clayton/Corbis via Getty Images Then: Seven Olympic gold medals and 23 World Championship gold medals.

Now: In 2020, Biles began dating NFL safety Jonathan Owens and the pair got married in 2023. In 2024, Biles stared in a Netflix docuseries about her gymnastics career. 2. Michael Phelps (swimming): Photo Graphic Com / Corbis via Getty Images Then: Twenty-three Olympic gold medals and 26 World Championship gold medals.

Now: During his Olympic career and since his retirement, Phelps founded the Michael Phelps Foundation which focuses on growing swimming as a sport and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among youths. Phelps is also an avid golfer. 3. Allyson Felix (track): Stuart Hannagan / Getty Images Then: Seven Olympic gold medals and 14 World Championship gold medals. Now: In 2021, Felix founded Saysh, a women's sports apparel brand that specializes in track and field spikes.

During the Obama administration, Felix served on the President's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition. 4. Shaun White (snowboarding): Adam Pretty / Getty Images Then: Three Olympic gold medals and 15 X Games gold medals.

Now: In 2022, White launched his lifestyle brand Whitespace and in 2024, White launched The Snow League, his own snowboarding league to make snowboarding a more regular sport like basketball and football. 5. Ryan Lochte (swimming): FRANCOIS XAVIER MARIT / AFP via Getty Images Then: Six Olympic gold medals and 18 World Championship gold medals. Now: In 2016, Lochte competed on Dancing with the Stars where he placed 7th. In 2019, Lochte competed on Celebrity Big Brother where he placed 10th, he also competed in and won an episode of Celebrity Family Feud that same year. In 2024, Lochte competed on The Traitors where he was the 4th contestant to be murdered. 6. Sue Bird (basketball): Jennifer Pottheiser / NBAE via Getty Images Then: Five Olympic gold medals and four World Championship gold medals. Now: Outside of her Olympic career, Bird is one of the most decorated WNBA players to compete in the league. Bird is also a part owner of the Gotham Football Club in NYC as well as her former WNBA team, the Seattle Storm. Since 2020, Bird has been engaged to retired soccer phenom Megan Rapinoe. 7. Lisa Leslie (basketball): Mitchell Layton / Getty Images Then: Four Olympic gold medals and two World Championship gold medals.

Now: Outside of her Olympic career, Leslie is one of the most decorated WNBA players to compete in the league. Leslie played for the LA Sparks and coached the Chicago Triplets in the BIG3. 8. Mary Lou Retton (gymnastics): Steve Ross / Getty Images Then: One Olympic gold medal (the first American woman to win the all-around gold) and three American Cup gold medals.

Now: In 2018, Retton competed on Dancing with the Stars where she came in 9th. 9. Carmelo Anthony (basketball): Nathaniel S. Butler / NBAE via Getty Images Then: Three Olympic gold medals.

Now: Outside of his Olympic career, Anthony was All-Star player in the NBA. He spent most of his career playing for the Denver Nuggets and would then go on to play for the Knicks, the Thunder, the Rockets, the Blazers, and the Lakers. In 2023, Anthony started his podcast, 7PM In Brooklyn With Carmelo Anthony. 10. Carl Lewis (track): Mondadori Portfolio / Mondadori via Getty Images Then: Nine Olympic gold medals and eight World Championship gold medals.

Now: As of 2025, Lewis became the head coach of the track and field team at University of Houston, his alma mater. 11. Kristi Yamaguchi (figure skating): Focus On Sport / Getty Images Then: One Olympic gold medal and two World Championship gold medals.

Now: In 2008, Yamaguchi won the sixth season of Dancing with the Stars. Yamaguchi founded the Always Dream Foundation and she also authored the New York Times best selling children's book, Dream Big, Little Pig. 12. Tara Lipinski (figure skating): Dimitri Iundt / Corbis/VCG via Getty Images Then: One Olympic gold medal and one World Championship gold medal. Now: After her games, Lipinski and fellow skater/best friend Johnny Weir began commentating on figure skating competitions. She's currently a contestant on the current season of The Traitors alongside best friend and co-host Weir. 13. Michelle Kwan (figure skating): Focus On Sport / Getty Images Then: One Olympic silver and bronze medal, five World Championship gold medals, and nine U.S. Championship gold medals. Now: Kwan has a long standing partnership with Disney that included a cameo in Ice Princess and a voice role in Mulan II. During the Biden administration, Kwan served as the U.S. Ambassador to Belize. 14. Apolo Ohno (speed ska
