Sara Ramirez is sharing a heartwarming memory of Eric Dane. The 50-year-old And Just Like That actor, who uses they/them pronouns, reposted a tribute to their late Grey's Anatomy co-star on Instagram made by trans actress Alexandra Billings. The actress guest starred on a season three episode of Grey's, and she posted a 15 minute long Reel sharing how Eric touched her when he defended an important part of her role. At one point in filming, Alexandra's monologue was going to be cut, but Eric fought for it, per what she said in the video: "[Eric] turns to me and he says very quietly, he says, 'What are the five most important things you say in that monologue?' ... And I told him! I don't remember what they were, but I told him one of them was about my wife, a line about my wife. And he said, 'Say that and we'll do a little improvisation'." In a moment that Alexandra says "changed everything" for her, she added: "And he turned to the boom mic [operator] and he said, 'What do you think?' And from the back, you hear like little Muppets, 'Yes, that's a great idea!' So they were all for it. And that's what you see in the episode." Aww! She went on to say Eric was "a true ally" who was not "just talk": "There was no reason in the world for him to do that. It didn't have anything to do with him. Time is money, especially in television. Eric Dane was one of the kindest, most empathetic humans I think I've ever worked with. I think that I could count on one hand the amount of times where I've left a set ... and gone, 'I can't believe.' Or, 'That was extraordinary.' And that was one of those times. Eric Dane showed everyone on that set what a true ally looks like. It's not just talk." Alexandra also highlighted how this episode in particular won a GLAAD award in her caption: "Thank you @realericdane From all of us ... Blessings and love, Donna ... PS This particular episode went on to win a GLAAD award for Best Writing. I felt a little vindicated when that happened and we all got invited to the ceremony and had a fancy dinner and got to celebrate one last time." So, so sweet.
