As I'm sure you know, the show Love Is Blind follows a bunch of singles as they aim to fall in love and get engaged sight-unseen. Season 10, which is currently airing on Netflix, is set in Ohio, and - as expected - there's been a fair share of drama ahead of the upcoming weddings. Netflix / Kinetic Content As the episodes have aired, several LIB viewers have expressed disappointment with some of the men's actions and comments on the show. @netflix / Via instagram.com Now, it's no secret that LIB has faced copious amounts of criticism for its casting in the past, particularly when it comes to the men. While we occasionally get the rare golden guy who seems to be on the show for genuine reasons, we've witnessed all sorts of unserious conduct from men on LIB - from defeating the purpose of the experiment by fixating on looks, to allegedly cheating on their partners once engaged.
And lo and behold, some of the men from Season 10 have reached new lows with their behavior. Let's start with contestant Chris Fusco, who shamelessly told his fiancée, Jessica Barrett, that she didn't work out enough for his usual liking. Netflix / Kinetic Content After the couples' retreat to Mexico, Chris told Jess - who is an infectious diseases physician - that he usually dates women who do Pilates and CrossFit, explaining that he was struggling with their physical connection because she doesn't work out "every day." Netflix / Kinetic Content "Just to be totally honest, and like, without sounding like a fucking dickhead... I don't know how to say it. Like, in the normal world, like, I date people who, like, fucking do, like, fucking CrossFit and shit," he said. "So, like, I'm trying to, like... I don't know." Netflix / Kinetic Content "Somebody who, like, works out all the time, and has, like, a different type of... I don't know," he said before Jess asked, "A different type of, like, body?" Netflix / Kinetic Content Chris awkwardly laughed and said, "It's just somebody who does fucking, like, Pilates every day, or someone who's, like, working out every day." "Stop allowing men like this on TV," one person commented. "she has a whole doctorate and he only has audacity," another user quipped. @netflix / Via instagram.com "Who made these men so confident," someone said. "Men like this don't even appeal to the women they are seeking. Who wants a man who tries to humiliate a woman on national TV??? For real," one more comment read. Chris addressed the backlash in an interview published on Feb. 18, where he said that he didn't intend to "body-shame" Jess. "I made some mistakes. I'll own those mistakes," he told Entertainment Weekly. "And I met an amazing person through this journey, so it's hard for me to say I would regret the experience." Netflix / Kinetic Content "People are entitled to their own opinion," he said. "Everyone's going to say what they want to say. It's something I can't control. I don't concern my day with things that I can't control. I can only move forward and look ahead."Chris added, "I would just say I'm a real person. I'm not just a storyline. You see a few weeks of someone's life, and it's cut up into certain pieces, and I don't know if the full context is shown all the time. I'm not a perfect human being, and I tried to go through this experiment the best way I knew I could." Away from Chris, Season 10 contestants Mike Gibney and Connor Spies have also faced criticism from LIB viewers for their responses to one of the women, Emma Betsinger, not wanting kids. Netflix / Kinetic Content Not that anyone needs to justify their reasoning for not wanting children, Emma - who was born with multiple precancerous birthmarks across her body - disclosed in the pods that she was partly hesitant because she wouldn't want to pass down her health complications. (She underwent numerous surgeries as a child to remove the high-risk birthmarks.) Netflix / Kinetic Content She also explained that because she is adopted and doesn't know her birth parents, she doesn't know her family's medical history. The men she was talking to immediately responded by telling her how amazing of a mother she'd be. Mike told her that she is "such a family person" and that she "could be a great mother," saying, "Just think of having a little you that you could literally do what your mom did for you."
