Kelly Ripa is looking ahead to the future - but does that include more seasons of Live With Kelly and Mark? "For me, I always say this job and this place is so special, that I really do believe in this show as a franchise," Ripa, 55, told Decider about her talk show's future on Thursday, February 19. "It's a franchise show. Before me, there was Regis [Philbin] and Kathie Lee [Gifford]. And before Kathie Lee, there was Regis and a myriad of other hosts." The All My Children alum continued, "I believe this show will continue on for as long as linear television exists. I believe that there are too many talented people out there that really deserve the opportunity to find their own audience and grow the audience the way they see fit. Because I don't intend to work for the rest of my life. I really do not." As for a timeline of when she would potentially step away from the series, Ripa reiterated, "I don't intend on working for the rest of my life. But I think we'll all make that decision when the time comes." 'What Could Go Wrong?' Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Talk Cohosting 'Live' Ripa implied she would make sure whoever eventually replaces her and husband Mark Consuelos would be the right fit for the job. "I think there's a way to sort of get new people on board and have them test cohosts, and get the audience used to other people," she noted. "I think it's important. I love this show too much to see it sort of ever end with us." Ripa echoed a similar view while speaking with The Purist in August 2023, telling the outlet, "I am very steadfast in everything I do, and so when you have me, you have me for life. Having said that, I don't intend to work at this job for the rest of my life. I do talk about retirement with great interest, but right now I'm very happy, especially working with Mark." Ripa became an official cohost on Live in 2001, joining Philbin at the desk after Gifford's departure from the talk show. Philbin, who died in July 2020 at age 88, left the show in 2011. Ryan Seacrest later joined Live in 2017. Disney/Lorenzo Bevilaqua After six years as Ripa's cohost, Seacrest, 51, announced he was leaving the show in 2023. Consuelos, 54, officially became his wife's cohost that same year, and the series has continued to bring in record-breaking viewership ever since. While fans love seeing Ripa and Consuelos banter on Live each morning, she admitted there's one thing about her husband that frankly gets on her nerves. "He doesn't listen to me frequently, and he will tune me out while we are live on the air," Ripa said during a July 2025 appearance on the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast. "And I'm like, 'Here's the thing, I'm used to you tuning me out in life, but when you are being paid - highly paid, by the way - to literally listen to me, then you have to listen to me.'" She added, "Literally, I watch him. I watch him drift away. And I'm like, 'Hey, don't do that.'"
