Eric Dane always had such a deep love for his wife Rebecca Gayheart, even though they were separated at the end. Following the Grey's Anatomy star's death on Thursday, he appeared in a heartbreaking Famous Last Words interview with Brad Falchuk on Netflix on Friday. In the very candid conversation, the 53-year-old opened up about his complex relationship with Rebecca. The pair married in 2004, and after welcoming daughters Billie and Georgia, 15 and 14 respectively, they split in 2018. However, despite filing for divorce, they called it off shortly before his health crisis was announced. She stood by him in his final days, supporting him and the family every step of the way. We're still best friends, but we're not together. We still love each other deeply." Despite not knowing how much longer he had to live while conducting the interview, Eric was confident he'd never experience love greater than Rebecca: "I will never, by the time anybody sees this, have fallen in love with another woman as deeply as I fell in love with Rebecca. She's the mother of my children." Aw! As for why things didn't work between them, he mused: "I just think we don't want to live with each other, but there's a lot of love there." He added: "I think Rebecca was more willing to show up and do her part than I was. I don't have that gene [that] just makes you want to keep going regardless of what's happening. I'm like, 'If there's a hole in the boat, don't try to patch the hole. Scuttle the damn thing and go find a new one.' ... Rebecca's a fighter and she perseveres." Some things just aren't meant to be. But it's wonderful that they were able to maintain a close bond and be on good terms at the end. He clearly loved her and their family so much. R.I.P.
