Romano, an actress known for starring in popular Disney Channel shows such as Even Stevens and Kim Possible, shared an emotional Instagram video on Tuesday, announcing that she and her husband, Brendan Rooney, underwent cancer screenings since her family has a history of cancer. "My husband's came back completely negative," she said before taking a long pause. She added, "Mine did not back negative. So basically what that means is that I may have stagable cancer." However, she is fighting her insurance company for that be covered. The Vulnerable podcast host then got emotional when referring to Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek, who died earlier this month at the age of 48 after a battle with colorectal cancer. "I live in Austin, and I was able to meet James Van Der Beek a bunch. His family's amazing. He's a pillar of our community in Texas," she said. "They always were raising money for the most amazing charities, and he's not with us anymore. Cancer is everywhere. Which is why I got this test." View this post on Instagram Romano added, "I kind of was in disbelief about it, because I was filming, and I was so happy to be back on set, and I didn't want to really think about it much." The actress also noted how it's been a little over a year since an incident occurred at her husband's birthday where she was shot in the eye by "another party" during her husband's birthday celebration. At the time, a fragment was apparently stuck behind her eye. She shared how thankful she was to survive the experience. "With everything that happened, all I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive," she wrote on Instagram. "I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much. I saw my life flash before my eyes and I'm telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant."
