There's a NEW ransom note! According to TMZ on Wednesday, they received a new ransom note in regards to Nancy Guthrie's disappearance. They called it a "highly sophisticated demand" that included a request for cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin (which differs from the original ransom note they received). The demand came in via email. The sender wants an amount similar to the $6 million request in the OG ransom note. It also "graphically" details the consequences if the money is not sent. All the information has been forwarded to the FBI. Harvey Levin also revealed: "It also involves the media, saying that the media essentially becomes a go-between, a trigger if you will, for getting this ransom money. We have been asked not to be specific about any of that, beyond what we've just said." The outlet also revealed that the FBI has now contacted federal Mexican law enforcement sources to have them be on the lookout for any possible leads, but so far, they've got nothing. A letter previously shared by someone who claims to know where Nancy is suggests she was taken "south of the border." While sources agree it's possible she was taken across the border, they think it's unlikely it happened directly after the kidnapping. Authorities have reportedly checked Border Patrol cameras and other electronic devices and haven't found anything. However, it's possible, per sources, that the 84-year-old could've been taken to Mexico at some other point within the past two weeks, and there are ways to avoid law enforcement while doing so. FBI insiders have also warned that anyone sending fake ransom letters in an attempt to scam the Guthrie family should expect to face severe punishment. One insider said: "They will go to federal prison for a long, long time." One law enforcement source added that they're "shaking the trees" trying to crack the case and trying to hunt down every lead, including asking around at gun stores about a list of folks who could be involved and working with Walmart and other retailers to find the items used by the person in the doorbell footage. So far, they've got nothing. Get all the details: There's already a big reward for information leading to Nancy's recovery and/or the arrest and conviction of those involved. If you know something, just speak up! The FBI has offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie, and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.
