More details are coming to light about Robert Duvall's final days before his death. Duvall appeared to be in good spirits in a workout video posted via his official Facebook page just 10 weeks before his passing. "I enjoy having a routine," the Godfather actor captioned the December 2025 clip, which showed him lifting weights while sitting in a chair. "Though I never went to the gym to get in shape for films. I preferred tennis, swimming, or horseback riding to keep me in shape." Days before his death, Duvall shared a separate Facebook post recalling his experience filming the 2003 comedy drama Secondhand Lions. Richard Gere Pays Tribute to 'Sweet and Gentle' Costar Diane Keaton "One day while filming Secondhand Lions, the lion got out," he wrote alongside a YouTube clip from the movie on February 3. "Had he turned in my direction, I wouldn't be here today! I absolutely enjoyed working on this film with director Tim McCanlies and actors Haley Joel Osment and Michael Caine." Nearly two weeks later, Duvall's wife, Luciana Pedraza, announced his death at age 95 on Monday, February 16. "Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time," she wrote in a statement via Facebook. "Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort." The statement continued, "To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court. For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented. In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all. Thank you for the years of support you showed Bob and for giving us this time and privacy to celebrate the memories he leaves behind." Following the news of Duvall's death, several Hollywood stars shared touching tributes to the late film icon. "It was an honor to have worked with Robert Duvall. He was a born actor as they say, his connection with it, his understanding and his phenomenal gift will always be remembered. I will miss him," Duvall's Godfather costar Al Pacino said in a statement to The Associated Press on Monday. Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola also spoke out in a tribute to the Apocalypse Now actor. "What a blow to learn of the loss of Robert Duvall. Such a great actor and such an essential part of American Zoetrope from its beginning: The Rain People, The Conversation, The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, Apocalypse Now, THX 1138, Assassination Tango," Coppola, 86, wrote alongside several film stills from Duvall's projects via Instagram. Robert De Niro, who starred alongside Duvall in The Godfather Part II and True Confessions, said in a statement to the Associated Press, "God bless Bobby. I hope I can live till I'm 95. May he Rest in Peace."
