Well... The glove found near Nancy Guthrie's home have finally been tested and, uh, the results aren't what anybody wanted to hear. As Perezcious readers know, Nancy went missing over two weeks ago. There's been a massive search to find her and/or any clues to who may have taken her, which resulted in many gloves being collected in the Tucson area. We're talking black latex gloves that appeared to match the ones the alleged kidnapper wore in surveillance footage. The FBI already said that many of the gloves discovered likely have nothing to do with the case. However, there was one found two miles away that they seemed interested in (not the one photographed by the New York Post, per TMZ). Earlier this week, the FBI said they were just waiting for the glove to return from the private Florida lab the Pima County Sheriff's Department has chosen to use (somewhat controversially), and then the DNA profile would be entered into CODIS, which holds almost 27 million DNA profiles. Related: Trump Reveals 'Severe' Consequences Nancy's Captors Will Face If She Isn't Found Alive! Sadly, test results returned on Tuesday - and it's not what we wanted. CODIS returned nothing! The Pima County Sheriff's Department announced in a statement on X (Twitter): "DNA evidence from gloves found approximately 2 miles from Nancy Guthrie's residence was submitted to CODIS & produced no matches. There is additional DNA evidence that was found at the residence that is also being analyzed." They followed up with: "The DNA that was submitted to CODIS was from the set of gloves found 2 miles away. It did not trigger a match in CODIS & did not match DNA found at the property. The DNA found at the property is being analyzed & further testing needs to be done as part of the investigation." Hmm. So, there's still hope. The gloves amounted to nothing, and frankly, that was always a bit of a long shot, according to many experts. But the DNA found inside the home - that currently does not match any of Nancy's close family members and known confidants - could still turn up results. Fingers crossed it does. That would be a MAJOR lead! According to TMZ intel, the whole process has slowed down thanks to the Sheriff insisting on using the Florida lab rather than FBI facilities. Why does this matter? Well, when it comes to CODIS, per federal law, DNA cannot be submitted unless it has been tested in the state where it was found. That means the DNA has to be fully processed in Florida and then sent back to Arizona, where it was found, for additional testing. With a case like this, every minute counts, so that's disappointing. According to NewsNation's Libbey Dean, the glove DNA will now "undergo genealogical testing." So, who knows, maybe they will find something? As suspected - they will use investigative genetic genealogy in Nancy Guthrie investigation.
