In the film, Star Wars alum Ridley plays Dr. Rosalind Carver, a successful entrepreneur who, together with her husband Matt, rescues a wounded man drifting off the coast of Indonesia, unaware they are about to become part of a deadly conspiracy. Within hours, Matt is abducted by a gang of ruthless pirates led by Langbore (Copley). Rosalind finds herself forced to team-up with a battle-hardened ex-mercenary (Duhamel) with his own reasons for taking down the pirates, and in doing so expose a global trafficking empire. Mark Canton (300, Den of Thieves) and Dorothy Canton are producing for Canton Entertainment together with Oakhurst Pictures and Renee Tab of Sentient Entertainment. Production set to begin in July. Highland Film Group is handling international rights to the film and is shopping it to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin. CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group are co-representing U.S. domestic rights. "The Good Samaritan is a relentless, high-stakes action thriller from one of the greatest action directors of our time. It's a big, bold project driven by a powerful female lead, with Daisy Ridley at the center, alongside a fantastic ensemble including Josh Duhamel and Sharlto Copley," said Highland Film Group CEO Arianne Fraser. "This is pure, heart-pounding entertainment at its best, a complex and intense story with real emotional stakes. With Pierre Morel at the helm and our incredible cast, the film has all the makings for a breakout crowd-pleaser," added Highland COO Delphine Perrier. Executive producers of The Good Samaritan include Morel, Cirulnick, Ryan Winterstern, and David Hopwood; and David Lipper, Delphine Perrier and Arianne Fraser for Highland Film Group. Canton Entertainment's Karley Ferlic will serve as a co-producer on the project. Duhamel can currently be seen in Netflix's Ransom Canyon. Other credits include Joe Carnahan's thriller Not Without Hope (2025), and Greg Berlanti's Love, Simon (2018). Copley, best-known for his starring roles in Neil Blomkamp's District 9 (2009) and Chappie (2015), recently appeared in Dev Patel's Monkey Man (2024), and in Netflix series The Witcher.
